Husband's chilling Facebook post before wife found dead in pool of blood in flat

The husband of a woman who was found dead in a pool of blood in their apartment had previously published a Facebook post saying that someone had tried to "come between them".

Erin Gilbert, 42, was found dead with severe injuries in the living room of her home in Merrylands, Sydney, Australia, on Easter Sunday.

Concerned neighbours had called the police at 11.30pm. The woman's body was found by her husband Nic Gilbert, 38, who performed CPR until medics arrived to try and revive her, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation is ongoing to establish who killed the woman.

Neighbours heard a commotion from the apartment in the hours before Ms Gilbert was found dead.

Mr Gilbert was taken to Granville Police Station and assisted officers with their enquiries on Sunday evening before being released without charge.

There is no suggestion he is a suspect.

Following his wife's death, Mr Gilbert paid tribute to her, writing on Facebook: "I was broken and then I found my best, my better half. Without you bub... I love you."

The pair met in 2018, got engaged in 2019 and by 2020 they were married, according to 9News.

In a post published in May 2019 and dedicated to Ms Gilbert and their pet cat Bonnie, Mr Gilbert hinted that a "lonely person" had tried to come between them.

He wrote: "They are my world and with out them I would be lost.

"To the horrible fake lonely person who keeps trying to come between us, well I suppose thank you for reminding us that we are so deeply in love that no matter what games you try play or how good at them you may be you will not come between us.

"And the day you do I promise you there will be no God to protect you from me!"

A police investigation is ongoing (Nine News)

Police are still investigating to determine the circumstances of the woman's death, with Superintendent Andrew Holland saying: "Erin was home at the unit that evening… we are aware neighbours heard her at the unit block, she had been speaking that night.

"We are just concerned someone else may have been in the unit block with her."

Mr Holland said it was still too early to determine what happened and at the moment the woman's cause of death is not known.

However, her injuries were described as "very serious and severe".

Members of the public have been urged to come forward with any information that could help the investigation.
