Hundreds head to Newcastle's Wylam Brewery in search of the city's best burger

Honey! I Shrunk the Burger, The Cuban Reuben and Tickle the Pickle were just some of the flavoursome favourites on offer at this year's Battle of the Burger competition today as local food vendors went head-to-head to be crowned Newcastle's best burger.

The annual event made a return to Wylam Brewery, in Exhibition Park, this Easter weekend following two years of cancelled events due to the coronavirus pandemic. And as the sun came out on Saturday, hundreds of people turned up to place their vote as the competition continued into its second and final day.

BrackBurger, Jam Jar, Parm-O-Rama, Goodtimes Tacos and Lola Jeans were a few of the much-loved local food vendors duelling it out to become the king of burgers. Five-time winners Lola Jeans were hoping to keep hold of the title with their Tickle the Pickle beef burger topped with pickled onion Monster Munch crisps, smoked streaky bacon, American cheese, red onion jam, pickles and ranch.
