Founder of local food bank Humans MCR has thanked Manchester Evening News readers for their generosity after our Christmas appeal has raised over £3,000 for the cause.
The M.E.N is working with Humans MCR to help tackle hunger in Greater Manchester this Christmas. With your help, we can help struggling families and individuals in the region get access to nutritious food, delivered straight to their door. Humans MCR treat every single person with dignity and respect, turning the traditional food bank model on its head in order to better serve the poorest in our communities.
You, our readers, have generously donated over £3,000 so far to this vitally important cause. The money will go towards helping families in the tough, dark months after Christmas - a time of year that is usually challenging for the charity, as donations dry up and people tighten their purse strings.

Co-founder of Humans MCR, Lewey Hellewell, said: "We are absolutely bowled over by the support that we have had so far. We're really grateful to everyone who has donated.
"The money that has been raised is going to be really useful in supporting people and families over Christmas when people will feel the pinch and winter has really kicked in.
"We're really grateful to know that we have some funds available and security to be able to provide food and support in the darkest time of the year for those who have the least."
But we're not done yet. Please keep the donations coming - anything you can give will go a long way. And if you can't give any money, please consider giving up a few hours of your time on December 23 to assist Humans MCR in making their special Christmas deliveries. They'll be making sure families across the region get a proper Christmas dinner this year - but they can't do it without your help. You can register to volunteer here.
