Ireland is due to swap its unseasonably mild weather of recent weeks for bitterly cold conditions, Met Éireann has predicted.
The major change will happen within days and will see temperatures plummeting, especially at night as the mercury dips below freezing.
Widespread frost is also likely at times, while daytime temperatures of between 6C and 11C will make the country feel as cold as Iceland, where similar temperatures are forecast.
