How will Sunday's Viaplay Cup final playout?
KEITH JACKSON: Yeah, let’s start with an easy one! It’s almost impossible to call. Both sides are flying in confidence with momentum at their backs, quality players all over the pitch and tactically astute managers in the dugout. It could be a bit of a classic - and might very well go all the way to penalty kicks.
ANDREW NEWPORT: Neither side were at their best when they squared off at Ibrox last month but with Rangers facing a midfield injury crisis and Celtic in relentless form, a win for the Hoops seems the likeliest outcome.
CRAIG SWAN: Celtic have a better team and, if they turn up on full power, they will win. But if they don’t, as was the case at Ibrox last month, Rangers will collect the trophy.
MICHAEL GANNON: It should be a cracker between two sides who are bang in form. Celtic have been coasting of late but will need to be at their best at Hampden. They should just about have the edge though.
Are Hibs going to secure a European spot?
KEITH: They’re certainly picking up form at the right time but Livingston are still looking good for fourth place this season.
ANDREW: Lee Johnson’s team have responded in the best way possible since their Edinburgh derby disaster but there’s still a long way to go for a team who have failed to string consistent results together for most of the season. I’d say it’s still too early to be making any bold predictions.
CRAIG: Yes. Lee Johnson is slowly getting it together at Hibs and the steady improvements should continue in the weeks ahead.
MICHAEL: They should do. Hibs have come through their bad patch and should improve in the coming weeks. They have the depth to pull away from their rivals for fourth.
Are Dundee United destined for the drop?
KEITH: No. The phrase ‘they’re too good to go down’ has been wrongly applied before where the Tannadice club is concerned. But it still rings true nonetheless. United still have enough quality to get themselves out of trouble even if their results suggest otherwise.
ANDREW: The Terrors are on a concerning run but we seem to be saying that about a few teams right now. I still think Motherwell’s chances depend on getting their managerial appointment right but United fans have every right to fret.
CRAIG: The signals point to yes. United can’t get it right at either end of the park and need to shape up soon.
MICHAEL: The alarm bells are ringing. All of the sides at the bottom are toiling so they could escape with a hint of decent form, but they’ll need to stop the catastrophic defending.
Will Aberdeen get back into the top six?
KEITH: Probably not. They’ve got themselves into a horrible state over the last couple of years and look every inch like a bottom six outfit. It’s a depressing time for the Dandies.
ANDREW: Like Well, a lot will have to do with who they appoint as boss but the likes of St Mirren and Livi above them have developed a habit of picking up regular points, something the Dons have failed abjectly at since the World Cup break.
CRAIG: Yes. There is too much quality in that squad to keep underperforming. The Dons can find their feet again after a dismal run.
MICHAEL: They have the squad but badly need some confidence. The league is so tight in the middle it wouldn’t take that much and it would be a major failure if they end up in the bottom half.
