Portugal make the trip to Denmark for their latest Nations League fixture this evening, but there will be one big absentee.
Cristiano Ronaldo left the international squad in a huff after not featuring in the 2-1 win over Norway last time out, and the veteran released a bombshell statement, claiming that he would reveal “the truth” about why he had made his exit.
It leaves manager Jorge Jesus, who is believed to have had a rift with his captain, lacking in options up top, with the No7 so often the first-choice centre-forward.
Former Wolves man Fabio Silva, who now plies his trade at Borussia Dortmund, is an option to come in, while Goncalo Ramos, the AC Milan striker, is another with a strong record that could replace the talisman.
Ramos started up top with Joao Felix against Norway, and both were on the scoresheet as Erling Haaland and co. were downed in Oslo.
They face a Denmark side fresh off a 2-0 victory against Wales, where a Ben Davies own goal and Gustav Isaksen’s strike handed them an easy three points.
