Japanese maples are remarkable trees. Whether growing in a large backyard or a compact patio container, these elegant specimens bring beautiful color, texture, and a tranquil woodland feel to any space. But even these resilient trees can struggle during periods of extreme heat.
After this summer's heatwave, my own potted Japanese maple was left with crispy, scorched leaves – a reminder that container-grown trees and older, established specimens can both show signs of stress when temperatures soar. While heat damage can look alarming, it doesn't always mean your tree is beyond saving.
