How to get a map in Gothic 1 Remake

The world of Gothic 1 Remake is vast, and your first task is to get a map. There are two NPCs that can help you with this task, and you encounter both of them early in the game. However, one of them will sell you the map for a lesser price, so let’s find out how to get to the NPCs.

How to obtain a map in Gothic 1 Remake

Once you have created a new save, follow the main route to reach the Old Camp. This is the first proper settlement where you’ll meet several NPCs. You’ll also find more clues about the mage that you’re looking for here and start new quests.

Head inside through the northern entrance and go past the guard. Tell him that Diego asked you to meet him, and he will allow you to go inside. Reach the entrance of the castle, and take the path that goes right. First, you’ll meet Graham.

Graham will offer you two different maps: one for the Old Camp and another for the Colony. The prices of both maps are different, and this isn’t the best place to get the Colony map (since you’ll find it cheaper elsewhere).

Once you’re done with Graham, head past him. Follow the water trough and continue on the path. Turn left, move straight, and you’ll come across a location with several shops. You’ll find another NPC named Dexter over there. He was easy to find; just look around for the name.

While Graham sells the Colony map for 44 Ore Nuggets, Dexter will sell the same item for 20 fewer resources. Hence, you should always buy the Colony map from him to save your hard-earned resources. Additionally, you’ll be able to buy regional maps later in the game. These will mark specific locations on the map. Whether you need them or not depends on you.

I advise avoiding spending on the Old Camp map. It’s a small location, and you’ll find all the key spots easily. There’s no need for a map at all to move around the place, so it’s better to save your Ore Nuggets for other things.
