How popular is your baby name? Find out using our interactive tool

Thinking of naming your baby Olivia or Noah? Well, you won't be the only parent doing so, as they are among the most popular names going. Oliver, George, Amelia and Isla are also common picks, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS).

Released on Wednesday, the ONS' annual figures for the most popular baby names in England and Wales for 2021 are finally here, and the results will likely surprise many. Fortunately, there's an easy way you can see how common your name is in England, by using our interactive tool. Simply type in the name you are interested in, then you can chart its popularity between 1996 and 2021.

For more information, you can click on each data point to see how many babies were given the selected name that year, plus how it ranked in terms of popularity.

You can also add more than one name at once, both boys' and girls' names, in order to compare the results.

Data analysis shows that for the first time in nine years, the name Oliver failed to secure the top spot on the boys' list. Instead, the popular pick was demoted to second, coming behind Noah.

In another twist, Jack was also bumped from the top ten of the ONS' list for the first time this century, making way for Henry to rise up the ranks.

But it was a much different story on the girls' list, where Olivia continued to reign supreme, with 2021 marking the sixth year in a row it has nabbed the top spot.

Not every name enjoyed the same success though, with some looking to be on their way to becoming "extinct".

Clifford, Nigel, Norman, Glenda and Kerry are all such names, with ten of fewer children being allocated each name, according to the latest data.
