Comedian and presenter Matt Lucas continues to stun fans with his incredible weight loss. The comic has dropped four clothing sizes in recent years and was motivated to do so for the most heartbreaking reason.
The 49-year-old has previously shared that he was motivated to shed some weight as he began to approach his 50s. He revealed the heartbreaking reason behind his plan to get fit and healthy on a podcast last year.
Discussing his trimmer figure on the Mid Point podcast with Gabby Logan, Lucas said: "It’s really… I’m 48, my dad died when he was 52, very suddenly. His dad died, I think at 56, so I was looking at the law of averages here."

Another element that fuelled the presenter's weight loss was the pounds he'd piled on during the pandemic, as he added: "I was very big and I was getting bigger in the pandemic actually. Sort of not being very active, not really going out, not seeing people, just eating a lot of roast potatoes."
He even began to fear he was getting too big for the Bake Off tent, the Sun reports. He said: "I could not fit on the screen. I was in the Bake Off tent and I was eating so much and at one point I was like 'At some point I am going to walk out and I am going to be wearing this tent'. It was too much.
"Most people who are big don't really want to be that size. With the weight I think what happens if, if you like your food, I like sugar. It is nice a bit of chocolate. l like chocolate of every colour."
How did Matt Lucas lose weight?
On an appearance of Birmingham City footballer Troy Deeney’s new podcast Deeney Talks, Matt expanded on his weight loss. He said as he got bigger, it became easier to put on weight.
He said: "Once you get a bit bigger and your metabolism changes it is different to the person who never got big. You will keep putting on weight more easily than they will. It is a battle for anyone who is big. I just found I was getting bigger, and bigger, and bigger."
When it comes to how he succeeded in his weight loss journey, it turns out that Matt followed a pretty simple routine, including walking more and cutting down on bad eating habits.
He explained on the Mid Point podcast how he upped his exercise by walking, revealing: "I like to walk. I live not far from a canal and I love when the weather's nice, going for long walks by the canal, either with a friend or on my own."
He also said he'd cut down on eating, but doesn't believe in depriving yourself of the food you love, adding: "I just don’t eat as much, but I eat sweets still. I love sweets."
