Hot Take: It’s Totally Ok To Take Your Date To Macca’s, You’re Just Ordering Wrong
Hey there, troubled date planner — yeah, I’m talking to you.
Valentine’s Day may be in the rear-view mirror, but we know that the pressure on date night hasn’t faltered. In fact, you’re probably feeling the pressure of having set the bar so high, racking your brain as to how you’ll ever meet these raised expectations time and again.
I know exactly what you’re thinking: ‘Where might I find an affordable yet indulgent meal that could possibly meet the hype?’ And don’t worry, we hear you!
That’s why, here at PEDESTRIAN.TV, we have personally gone and planned your next big date night on a budget, and believe it or not, it’s at the ol’ reliable McDonald’s.
You read that right, it’s time to bring back Macca’s dates, ‘cos for a limited time (and for your relationship’s sake), they’re bringing you a refined dining experience with their new Bistro Béarnaise Angus Range, and I am so here for it.
I’m talking juicy 100 per cent Aussie Angus beef with a rich béarnaise sauce, paired with a classic Kirks Lemon, Lime & Bitters.
So yeah, I’d read on if I were you.
Le menu à la carte
If your partner is a ‘read the menu before you dine’ type of person, let me lay out exactly what you can expect from this new mouthwatering range.
Starting off strong with the humble Bistro Béarnaise Angus burger. This bad boy boasts a 100 per cent Aussie Angus beef patty, bacon, crispy onions, cheese, fresh tomato and lettuce, and of course, that rich, creamy béarnaise sauce. All served between the pillowy surfaces of a sesame and poppy seed bun — I’ll give you a moment to steady your heavy breathing after reading all that.
And if that wasn’t already indulgent enough, there’s also a double Angus version; you know, for the gains (thoughtful, amirite).
Is your mouth watering yet? (I had to check if my keyboard was still working, I can’t lie.)
Not only are Macca’s blessing us with a tasty new burger line, but they’re also introducing a beverage to help wash down the indulgent meal: Kirk’s Lemon, Lime & Bitters.
As an LLB enthusiast, this is so important to me. I can picture it already, the buttery emulsion that is the béarnaise being perfectly complemented by the tangy, sweet and slightly bitter flavours. It brings chills down my spine just thinking about it (I just know it’s gonna be as spicy as their Sprite).
I don’t know about you guys, but I couldn’t think of a more acceptable reason to take your significant other out to Macca’s for a nice dinner date (or perhaps this would just work on me, and I’m projecting).
‘Fancy’ is a mindset; good company is the key
If this levelled-up menu wasn’t enough to convince you this is a great idea, let me introduce you to a key factor of pulling this off: committing to the bit.
Get dressed up, bring along a fancy plate to put your food on — the date is only as bougie as you make it. If Gen Z can turn the Minions movie into a formal occasion, why can’t we do the same for good ol’ Macca‘s?
Quality affordable fast-food aside, a date is only as successful as you make it. It’s 2026, and we’re amidst a cozzy liv crisis for Pete’s sake, let’s normalise romanticising the mundane; strip back that ego and remember that the company makes the date, not the destination.
Because really, there’s nothing more satisfying to the ears than your loved one asking you to go on a cheeky Macca’s run — and with this new Bistro Béarnaise Angus Range, how could you say no?
