UK heatwave: Is there a hosepipe ban in my area?

  • Two UK water companies, South East Water and Southern Water , are implementing hosepipe bans in parts of Kent, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
  • South East Water's temporary ban for Kent began on 3 July, while Southern Water's ban for Hampshire and the Isle of Wight will commence on 10 July.
  • These measures follow June's record-breaking heatwave , with the Met Office forecasting a third heatwave for the coming week.
  • Households across the country are advised to limit water usage, with companies like Thames Water urging customers “not to use hosepipes or sprinklers during heatwaves.”
  • Anyone caught breaching an official ban can be issued a fine of up to £1,000.
