Honda Just Leveled Up Privateer Racing In The US With The HRC Performance Shop Program

Honda has just launched the HRC Performance Shop pilot program, opening up a new, factory-backed pipeline to race parts and support from Honda Racing Corporation. Now, for regular riders with no intention to hit the track and race, this may not sound like a big deal.

But for performance enthusiasts, and especially riders who want to go racing but don't have the factory support of more seasoned racers, this is a much bigger deal than it seems.

For years, getting proper HRC hardware was sort of like trying to access a secret menu that only factory teams knew about. You either had connections, deep pockets, or a lot of patience dealing with fragmented supply chains. Now Honda is basically saying, fine, let’s make this easier. Not as easy as ordering parts online, but a lot easier, and way more accessible to a wider range of riders.

Naturally, the program kicks off with the Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade, specifically 2025 and newer bikes. That means legit race-spec components straight from HRC. We’re talking engine internals, electronics, chassis bits, and even setup tools. Not aftermarket guesses or reverse-engineered workarounds. Actual parts designed for closed-course racing by the same people behind Honda’s global racing efforts.

But here’s the catch, and it’s intentional. You can’t just walk into any Honda dealer and start ordering HRC goodies like it’s a catalog. Honda is keeping things tight with just three dealerships in the pilot phase. Al Lamb’s Dallas Honda, Jones Honda, and Southern Honda Powersports. All three already have serious racing cred, whether that’s backing teams or supporting riders who are actually out there pushing at race pace.

That part matters because Honda isn’t just selling parts here. It’s trying to control how those parts are used and supported. Anyone who’s spent time around race bikes knows that throwing expensive components at a bike without proper setup is a great way to go slower, not faster. By limiting access to dealers who know what they’re doing, Honda is making sure the whole package actually works.

And this is where things start to get interesting. Honda says this is just phase one. Down the line, the HRC Performance Shop could expand into full race kits. Maybe even complete, fully built competition machines. If that happens, it changes the game for privateers and smaller teams who’ve always been a step behind factory-backed efforts.

Honda has been steadily ramping up its racing presence in the US over the past few years. The Red Rider Rewards program has been growing, support for teams in MotoAmerica has been getting stronger, and there’s already a Stock 1000 title from 2024 to show for it. This new program is clearly Honda tying it all together.

It’s not just about winning races at the top level. It’s about building a deeper ecosystem where more riders have access to better tools. More competitive bikes across the grid means better racing, more visibility, and ultimately more people taking Honda seriously again in road racing.

And if Honda follows through on expanding this program, don’t be surprised if the next few seasons start looking a little different. More Hondas up front. More private teams punching above their weight. And a lot fewer excuses about not having the right parts.
