Hilary Duff's interiors are a constant source of inspiration – whether she's experimenting with statement furniture or showing off ways to make an office space inviting, we know we can count on the former Lizzie McGuire star to give us some top-tier home content.
Her latest Instagram post is a prime example of her excellent taste – her expansive kitchen, featuring open shelving, white cabinetry, and silver accents, is made by its gorgeous green kitchen tiles.
While green is often a pick for bathroom tiling, we love that Hilary took the rich hue into her kitchen, adding a pop of color and vibrancy to the otherwise neutral space. They're visible, in all their beauty, on the second photo on Hilary's photo carousel below.
This tile color is reminiscent of nature and is a great option for those wanting to foster a calm yet engaging atmosphere, says contractor Jay Sanders. There are a few tips to keep in mind when building around green in the kitchen.
'Pick your green wisely: Mint, emerald, olive, sage, forest – explore different shades to find one that speaks to you,' says Jay. 'The vibe you want – cozy, calming, or dramatic – will depend on your choice.'
Whether you go with a lighter or darker shade, Jay recommends keeping other aspects of the kitchen, such as appliances and shelving, in neutrals like beige and grey to allow the tiles to take center stage. 'Or, for a bolder statement, pair it with yellow, orange, pink, or purple,' he says. 'Just remember, keep the rest of the room simple so your tiles can be the stars.'
Keeping the rest of the kitchen neutral is a safe move, but accessorizing is a fantastic opportunity to subtly tie some more greens into the space.
'Green cookbooks, cute bowls, even leafy artwork – these little touches add personality and polish to your green-tiled masterpiece,' Jay suggests. He also recommends trying out some green decor in interesting textures, like linens or a jute rug.
Naturally, this carries over to greenery in the truest sense as well. 'Hang some plants, decorate with botanical prints, or even add some leafy dishware. Your kitchen will feel like a breath of fresh air.'
