Heston Blumenthal charging £395 a head for Christmas dinner - with real-gold carrots

Celebrity chef Heston Blumenthal is charging a whopping £395 per person to eat a Christmas dinner at his The Fat Duck restaurant – but at least you get a welcome drink.

Located in Bray, Berkshire, the three-star Michelin restaurant serves up seasonal menus, called Anthologies, which it changes each quarter.

The Christmas Edition of the Anthology Menu is "one full of wonderment and anticipation", albeit at a hefty price tag.

Diners will be lead through a "culinary journey through Heston's creative exploration of the emotional resonance of Christmas".

As for what is served on the menu, staff prefer to keep it a surprise – but their website does offer up a few hints.

For just under £400, visitors will be served up a festive toast in the form of a Buck's Fizz, followed by other luxury delights such as caviar, langoustine and even a flaming pudding.

Heston, who is known for his experimental cooking, has also added a 24-carat carrot to the menu that "transforms into a gold-flecked snow-globe sherry swirl".

But that's not all, guests are asked to "come prepared for excitement, joy, discovery and some nice surprises".

The website doesn't specify exactly what drinks are provided, but the price tag doesn't include the 12.5% service charge, or any extra beverages you get.

If that doesn't suit your taste, famous celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay is charging a slightly lower £275 a head for people to dine at the Pétrus by Gordon Ramsay restaurant – but this doesn't even include booze.

The sample menu features a number of decadent treats, from confit egg to lobster ravioli.

Elsewhere, at his Savoy restaurant, his seven-course Christmas Dinner menu also costs £275 per person, and features beef Wellington and Dover sole.

Meanwhile, if you want to buy TV chef Tom Kerridge's Christmas dinner package, it will set you back an eye-watering £195 for a family of four – and you have to cook it yourself.

Working out at £48.75 a head, the Michelin-starred chef was criticised for his "rip off" and "p*** take" prices as Brits continue to tackle the cost of living crisis.

If you want to experience Heston's luxury festive feast for yourself, as there are only certain slots left available, although you are welcome to join the waitlist through the website.

Reservations must be prepaid, and are available for parties of two to six for lunch and dinner up to December 22.
