ATLANTA — As Republican U.S. Senate nominee Herschel Walker launches his general election campaign, he is struggling to talk about guns.
Twice in recent days Walker has fumbled questions on gun control: In one interview he seemed to suggest monitoring young people’s social media activity and in another he dodged the question altogether.
The issue has burst into the spotlight again after an 18-year-old armed with an AR-15 rifle shot and killed 19 students and two teachers at a Uvalde, Texas, elementary school Tuesday. Eleven days earlier a shooter killed 10 at a grocery store in Buffalo, New York.
