Methodology: For this piece, GOBankingRates looked at the most populous metro areas (with corresponding AAA fuel price data) to see how gas prices in the most populous areas in each state have moved over the last month. GOBankingRates used AAA.com’s fuel prices collected on April 13, 2026. GOBankingRates found the April 13th and March 13th regular unleaded fuel prices per gallon, and from there, we were able to calculate both the monetary and percent changes in fuel prices over the past month. All data was collected and is up to date as of April 13, 2026.
