A 50p tin of supermarket beans have been rated 'better than Heinz' in an official taste test. Consumer experts Which? compared beans from supermarkets including Aldi, Lidl, Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury's, Co-Op, Marks and Spencer and Sainsbury's to see which tasted the best compared to the leading brand.
Budget retailers Aldi and Lidl both missed out on the top spot. 'Posh' supermarkets M&S and Waitrose also failed to secure the number one placing in the rankings.
Instead, mid-range supermarket was crowned superior. Its 50p own-brand beans beat all rivals to the top spot, having been approved by three quarters of the panel.
