After months of rumors swirling around the fashion universe, it's now official. Hedi Slimane is leaving Celine. While we've had our fair share of designers departing fashion houses of late, this time things are different. Why? Celine has already named his successor.
Slimane has served as the French fashion house's artistic, creative and image director since January 2018. The designer has been the creative force behind many big brands, including Saint Laurent and Dior Homme. Known for his sophisticated yet "sleazy" style, it'll be interesting to see where he goes next. Perhaps Chanel? Stay tuned.
Meanwhile, Michael Rider is slipping into the Celine spot. His most recent role was creative director at Polo Ralph Lauren. He's no stranger to Celine, however. Rider was the brand's design director of ready-to-wear from 2008 to 2018 working with the one and only Phoebe Philo.
Rider begins his new gig in early 2025.
