Heart-stopping footage shows moment reckless driver overtakes while towing caravan on A82

A heart-stopping video has shown the moment a reckless driver towing a caravan overtook both a motorhome and a car while approaching a bend on the A82.

The dash cam footage was captured by Yorkshireman Kevin Simpson who was travelling through Scotland with his wife when they encountered the careless individual on the major road at Glencoe at around 9.30am on Friday, September 30.

Kevin, from Hull, who was journeying in a motorhome, was making his way through the lashing rain and gale force wind when all of a sudden, the vehicle veered into the adjacent lane, which would otherwise be filled with oncoming traffic.

The hefty motor then makes a break for it - despite a bend in the road coming up ahead. The car in front can be seen slamming its break on while the motorhome races up beside it, swerving somewhat erratically as it takes its place back in the left hand lane.

Although the high-risk manoeuvre did not, thankfully, result in a head-on collision, Kevin has since slammed the 'clown' who carried out the dicey move, and shared the video on social media to warn others to be vigilant.

The poor weather conditions made the move even more dangerous (Kevin Simpson)

Kevin told the Record: "Me and my wife were making our way home from a week touring the West of Scotland - Glencoe, Ben Nevis, Loch Ness.

"We were taking it easy because of the bad cross winds on that stretch of the A82. That bridge is tight when you meet a car coming the other way.

It is understood no one was hurt in the event, which was not reported to cops (Kevin Simpson)

"I always let cars coming the other way pass, there's always wing mirrors on the road there. He tried to over take just before the water fall, too, but pulled in at the last minute."

The incident was not reported to Police Scotland.
