'He'll be staying I believe' - Rangers boss throws Swansea City transfer plans out of the window as Whittaker deal off

Rangers boss Michael Beale expects Morgan Whittaker to remain at Swansea City beyond the January transfer window.

The Scottish Premiership giants have been firm admirers of the versatile attacker and have had three bids for Whittaker rejected by the Swans this month.

However, as reported by WalesOnline earlier on Monday, Swansea expect Whittaker to stay with Swansea beyond Tuesday's 11pm deadline after the Scottish club failed to meet their valuation of the player.

And Gers boss Beale now appears resigned to missing out on the signature of Whittaker.

"He will be staying at Swansea I believe," said the Rangers boss when previewing his side's clash with Hearts.

Whittaker joined the Swans from Derby County for a fee in the region of £700,000 in January 2021.

However, he has found game time hard to come by in south Wales and has been sent out on loan to Lincoln City and Plymouth Argyle.

He is now set to be included in Swansea's squad for the remaining months of the 2022/23 season.

It could well have a knock-on effect on the Swans' transfer plans given that Russell Martin had been eager to add a striker to his ranks, although, with Whittaker now set to be back at the club, it appears unlikely that a new forward will be brought in.
