Harry Kane slammed for 'staying quiet' over Tottenham future amid transfer claim

Gabby Agbonlahor believes Harry Kane wants to join Bayern Munich this summer, having criticised the Tottenham striker for "staying very quiet" about his future.

Bayern Munich have had two bids rejected by Spurs for Kane, who is in the final year of his contract, with chairman Daniel Levy unwilling to sell the England captain for less than £100m. Kane is viewed as the long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski, who left Bayern last summer to join Barcelona, and manager Thomas Tuchel is desperate for a deal to be done.

New Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou is set to meet Kane for the first time this week and admitted he has been given no assurances about his future. And former Villa striker Agbonlahor believes Kane is keen on a move to Germany, questioning why Bayern would bother even making a bid if he was not interested.

"Clubs don't go in for players and make bids unless they've spoken to the player's agents," he said on talkSPORT. "That's how it works. It happened with me when I played, you get people contacting you before they put a bid in.

"If you don't want to go, the bid doesn't come in. There's no point Bayern Munich embarrassing themselves because Daniel Levy says 'Okay, £90m. We have a deal'... and he might not want to go.

"So I think Harry Kane does want to go because Bayern Munich wouldn't be putting in the offers." He also criticised Kane for "staying very quiet" about his future, claiming it is "not fair on the Spurs fans".

"What [Postecoglou] needs as the manager of Spurs is communication from Daniel Levy and Harry Kane. Can't there be a cut-off point, say 20th July, [where] if Harry Kane isn't sold by then he's staying.

"If Bayern Munich don't meet £100m it's over, you're not dragging it on until the transfer window finishes. 20th July, they're out on their pre-season tour and you know you've got Harry Kane and you're not stuck with Richarlison, who scored one goal in 27 games because that's a crisis for Spurs.

"As a manager, you want to be assured by your owner so that's what needs to happen. It can't continue. If I'm Daniel Levy I'm saying, '£100m by 20th July or forget about it. Harry Kane is staying and I've got a year to try and make you sign a new contract'.

"It can't carry on. It's not fair on the Spurs fans and it's not fair on his teammates. Harry Kane is staying very quiet which I don't like."
