Harry Kane and Declan Rice receive ambitious Man Utd sales pitch from England teammate

Luke Shaw admitted he has been tapping-up Harry Kane and Declan Rice to sign for Manchester United.

England captain Kane and midfielder Rice are big money transfer targets this summer and Shaw admits he wants them both to move to Old Trafford. United defender Shaw said: “It is not normally discussed but because of the time of the season and what is going on, there is a lot of talk, a lot of banter.

“But I would love a few of them to join United - I am not going to lie. I am speaking to them, telling them how good Manchester is because I know their qualities.

“I know they are world-class players and they would be a massive help to us but I can only say so much. It is up to the club and whatever they decide so we have to go from there.”

Shaw posted pictures of himself on social media with both England team mates as he said he was giving them a guided tour of United’s training ground which they are using ahead of the Euro 2024 qualifier with North Macedonia at Old Trafford on Monday night.

United are already trying to sign Chelsea ’s England star Mason Mount - who is not in the squad because of injury - while they are long-standing admirers of Tottenham striker Kane even though Spurs do not want to sell.

Arsenal are best-placed to sign England midfielder Declan Rice (PA)

West Ham midfielder Rice has been told he can leave this summer with Arsenal in pole position but Shaw made it clear he has been trying to persuade them to move to Old Trafford.

When asked about his post, Shaw said: “Yes, I was half joking. But it is a bit of both. I know they are both world-class players and I don’t know what is going on at their clubs but if it was down to me, I would take them in a heartbeat.

“They would improve our team massively and help us go to what we want to achieve. They have been here the last couple of days and hopefully they like it and can get used to it!”

United have made Kane their No1 striker target this summer but need the England captain to push to leave Spurs and the fear is they might not be able to persuade Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy to sell to a Premier League rival.

Rice has set his heart on Arsenal but West Ham want in excess of £100m and so far the clubs are a long way apart.
