On Sunday night over 7.5 million viewers tuned into BBC One to watch the grand finale of Happy Valley and it did not disappoint.
Many dramatic scenes left viewers on the edge of their seats and now James Norton, who played the notorious Tommy Lee Royce, took to Instagram to share some behind the scenes footage of the car scene which saw him murder the two passengers while the vehicle was driven through the countryside.
In the gruesome scene, viewers winced as Tommy stabbed and slit the throat of Darius Knezevic's accomplices. Then, after the car rolled down the hill, Tommy could be seen being strangled before using a rock to stave in his last remaining attacker.
Prior to the grand finale on Sunday, James had been sharing throwback snaps on his Instagram page and today he treated fans to a glimpse behind the scenes of the exciting car scene.
He wrote: "BTS from Series 3 #happyvalley."
In the video James posted on his grid, the silver car can be seen in front of a huge three-sided screen which gives the illusion that it's moving.
In another clip, the actor can be seen pretending to run in front of the screen whilst covered in blood.
And fans were totally stunned that it was a screen as many thought it was a real stunt.
In the comments, one wrote: "I totally believed that this was in the country side."
Another commented: "My gosh just shows how great actors you all are and the talented production team. I really thought the car was rolling down that hill! That scene was so gruesome too, so strange to see you all smiling together!!"
While one penned: "It's so weird seeing the fun you all had filming scenes that had us all on the edge of our sofas."
Another added: "Would never have guessed the road scenes weren’t real! So well done!"
While one commented: "This just shows the incredible magic of TV. The production crew often get forgotten but the work of phenomenal!"
