Greggs fan 'confused and deflated' after buying beef and veg pasty with no filling

A Greggs regular was left feeling "confused and deflated" after realising his snack was "just a shell" without its tasty beef and vegetable filling.

Paul went to Greggs in Hull for his usual, a beef and vegetable pasty, only to find it felt unusually light.

He also wondered if something was wrong with his food because of its odd shape, Hull Live reports.

Paul took a bite but soon realised his snack was nothing but a "shell - a very disappointing shell".

Though he was less than impressed, Paul didn't have time to return to the store to lodge a complaint - and ended up having to skip lunch.

Speaking to Hull Live about the ordeal, Paul said: "When I received the pasty I saw it was an unusual shape and I thought, 'this is strange'. On my way back to work, I bit into it and realised that it had no filling in it at all.

"I was quite deflated. I paid £1.85 for a shell - a very disappointing shell.

"I showed my friends and they all laughed at me. I was quite annoyed in the end as I didn't have time to go back, so I ended up without any lunch. You just wonder, 'how did that get out on the shelf?'"

Paul said: "I'll still go back to Greggs because it's my favourite, but I'll have to check the weight of my pasty next time before I leave. They can trick me once, but they won't trick me twice!"

A Greggs spokesperson said: “Oh crumbs! We certainly didn’t intend for our Beef and Vegetable Pasty to be given to this customer without the tasty filling.

“We’d love the customer to get in touch with us through our customer care team so we can put it right for them."

Just weeks ago, a similar incident sparked fury from chocolate fans.

Angry KitKat customers sank their teeth into the confectionary classic only to find no wafer inside - just a solid choc bar.

KitKats are traditionally a chocolate-coated biscuit bar with three layers of wafer biscuit inside.

But it is not just the original bar showing up waferless - the brand's 'Chunky' and flavoured ranges are too.

One angry chocoholic Bronwyn Openshaw said: "I'm actually quite upset because it doesn't taste nice without the wafer."

Tracy Bennett was equally unhappy and fumed: "If I didn't want wafer, I wouldn't have bought a KitKat.

"Not happy."

Yvonne Donnelly added: "Gutted I got a KitKat with no wafers inside, just orange chocolate."

Bels Reed even joked that the lack of wafer made her manager cry.

Yet Logan Bradley bucked the trend and said: "I just bit into a Kit Kat that didn't have a wafer in it and honestly it made my whole day.

"KitKat, I love you."

KitKats - made by Nestle - also came under fire last week for announcing it will discontinue its vegan options.
