Hundreds of Metro passengers burst into song while waiting for trains to take them home from the Great North Run.
The spontaneous sing-a-long was led by a Nexus staff member in South Shields who went the extra mile to keep crowds of runners and spectators entertained on the network's busiest Sunday of the year.
In a video shared by Nexus chief operating officer, Martin Kearney, Metro passengers can be seen singing 'She'll Be Coming 'Round the Mountain' as they wait outside South Shields Interchange after the run. Despite the queues to get home, the crowd remained in high spirits as they enthusiastically joined the cheerful Nexus staff member in the fun sing-a-long to pass the time.

And it didn't end there, as passengers also broke out into a rendition of 'Sweet Caroline' once they made it to the platform in South Shields. In the clip, crowds belt out the words to the anthem with runners even finding the energy to wave their arms in the air as they enjoyed the novel moment.
Metro operator Nexus, which carried around 90,000 people on Great North Run day, said its staff always enjoyed interacting with the runners and spectators.
A Nexus spokesman said: “The Great North Run is a celebration of community spirit, public generosity and togetherness which we are proud to support each year. Sunday’s event showed North East England at its best, and all the hundreds of Nexus colleagues who take part welcome our interaction with the many thousands of runners and spectators we look after throughout the day.”
