A young man and a gran who sparked up an unexpected friendship after she texted the wrong number, will be meeting up for the seventh Thanksgiving in a row.
Wanda Dench, 65, and Jamal Hinton, 22, have continued their tradition of meeting up over the US holiday period despite previously being strangers.
It all started in 2016, when Wanda Dench texted the wrong number by accident hoping just to tell her own grandson about dinner plans for the special day.
When the Jamal Hinton asked who sent the message, Wanda replied "Your grandma" before sending a picture of herself, reports CBS.
Afterwards Jamal sent a picture of himself to dispel any idea they were related.
He still cheekily asked: "Can I still get a plate tho?"
Wanda assured him there was a plate for him and on the day the teen drove from Tempe, Arizona, to Mesa to take her up on that.
Ever since he's been to every one of her Thanksgiving meals, supporting each other as life goes on.
Jamal even introduced his girlfriend Mikaela to Ms Dench.
In 2020, Ms Dench's husband Lonnie died from Covid-19 leaving the family reeling, but Jamal still came round for Thanksgiving.
Every year when the unlikely duo announce they've continued the tradition, hoards of fans rejoice. It has so captured people's imagination that Netflix are developing the story into a movie.
On November 22, just days before the big event, Jamal confirmed the tradition would be going ahead as normal.
Sharing a photo of the pair, Jamal wrote: "To answer all your questions, yes Thanksgiving year 7 is planned out! See you guys Thursday!".
Their friendship isn't restricted to the holiday period though. Living nearby they occasionally meet up outside of their tradition.
Jamal went with Wanda when she got her first tattoo in September.
Explaining the three stars she got tattooed on herself, she said: "I got three shooting stars. Each one represents my Guardian Angels in Heaven - my husband who stands for integrity, my mother who was courageous, and my father who was about unconditional Love."
Jamal was also quick to show support, saying: "Go congratulate Wanda on her FIRST TATTOO!! We had a blast going with her!"
Dench loves the relationship and tradition that has stemmed from a wrong number.
She once said: “Jamal taught me that age made absolutely no difference. I love all of my grandkids and kids, but we all are different generations and we all reminisce about different things,”
She continued: “That’s when it dawned on me that there doesn’t have to be a generation gap to have friendships. So now I look at a lot of young people in a different light than I used to and I make it a point to talk and get to know them."
