Graham Norton favourite to host Eurovision 2023 if song contest comes to UK

Graham Norton is the bookies' favourite to host Eurovision 2023 if the song contest is held in the UK next year. The organiser of the Eurovision Song Contest has said it is in talks with the BBC to “potentially host” the 2023 event.

The Ukrainian entry of Kalush Orchestra won the competition in Turin, Italy this year and it is traditional that the winning country hosts the event the following year. However, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) said that following a “full assessment and feasibility study” it had concluded the “security and operational guarantees” required to host the event cannot be fulfilled by Ukraine’s public broadcaster UA:PBC.

Betfair has BBC Eurovision commentator Norton as 3/1 favourite to anchor Eurovision 2023. Other contenders to host include Holly Willoughby & Phillip Schofield (9/2), Bonnie Tyler (8/1) and Davina McCall (10/1).

It said bold punters could back an outsider to host. James Corden is at 66/1 and Piers Morgan a massive 250/1 outsider.

Betfair spokesperson Sam Rosbottom said: “After confirming they would not be able to provide the required security to host next year’s Eurovision in Ukraine, who won the 2022 show last month, the competition’s bosses have asked the BBC if they would be able to host it. Graham Norton is the 3/1 favourite to anchor the song contest should it come to the UK next year and he is followed by Holly Willoughby & Phillip Schofield at 9/2, while Bonnie Tyler, who represented the UK at Eurovision in 2013, is 8/1."
