The Tennessee Titans decided to address the offensive line in Round 6 of the 2023 NFL draft with the selection of Maryland offensive lineman, Jaelyn Duncan.
This is a steal of a pick in my personal opinion. Of all the obvious value-driven picks the team has made, this is probably the one that I understand most.
The other players Tennessee selected were right around the range I expected, but this is one that I legitimately can understand if head coach Mike Vrabel and general manager Ran Carthon say he was too good to pass up on.
I had Duncan as the ninth-best tackle in my rankings, with a high-fifth-round grade that was right on the verge of a fourth-round one.
The Maryland product is an experienced and athletic lineman who has tons of long-term upside. Duncan will instantly provide valuable depth to the tackle position.
He should also be able to kick inside if needed, but his natural balance and ability to mirror edge rushers is something he and the team should continue developing going forward.
Obviously, as we’ve discussed to a nauseating degree in the two previous grades, not taking a wide receiver continues to be baffling, but that’s just the way the board seemingly continues to play out for Vrabel and Carthon.
However, I really like the value of Duncan at this point of the draft, so I’ll at least give this an average grade.
