Good Morning Britain Martin Lewis' broadband warning to BT, TalkTalk and Sky customers

Martin Lewis has issued urgent broadband advice on Good Morning Britain.

The consumer champion fronted today's edition of the ITV news programme alongside Susanna Reid. Martin presented a new segment titled "Wallet Wednesday" as he answered viewers questions on the cost-of-living crisis.

The finance guru warned viewers they are set to see a rise in broadband bills next month at the beginning of the new tax year. He said: "BT, TalkTalk, Plusnet, Shell, Virgin, Vodafone, Sky broadband prices are going up an average 14%. Not every package, Sky is 8%."

However, the finance guru is urging people to act now before the April price hikes, and said millions are not claiming a benefit that could reduce their broadband bill.

He said: "There are 4 million people in the UK who are entitled to social tariffs, which are long term discounted tariffs on broadband and aren't touching them.

"In fact, only 4% of eligible people get them. If you're on Universal Credit, other equivalent benefits or pension credits, check out whether your provider has a social tariff. It can slash the cost of your broadband when you get it long term cheap."
