Good Morning Britain viewers were floored when they recognised the ITV show's weatherman as an ex-EastEnders star.
Laura Tobin usually presents the weather on the ITV breakfast show this morning, but she was absent today as she's taking a holiday leaving someone else to step into her shoes. Viewers were surprised when Laura didn't appear, instead replaced by Des Coleman.
Des is a local weather presenter for ITV but joined the national show today in Laura's absence. However, fans were stunned to realise where they knew him from - as they recalled his three year stint on the BBC One soap.
Richard Madeley and Susanna Reid addressed his previous career during a chat on the show today. Des worked on EastEnders from 1996 to 1999, when he starred as Lenny Wallace. He has also had roles in a number of other shows.
As he appeared on the show today, they shared a snap of Des with his co-star Patsy Palmer, who played Bianca Jackson.
Speaking about his time on the show, and recalling his first on-screen kiss, Des shared: "That was my first ever screen kiss. You'd actually think that kissing someone would be quite romantic but with 50 people in the room it isn't and the director screaming in your ear 'you're doing it wrong, you're doing it wrong'.
"Changed my kissing style after that, so thanks for that. I still don't think I'm doing it right, actually."
Fans rushed to social media to share their excitement at Des being back on their screens, as one wrote: "@GMB #GMB Des the weatherman is a Legend. He’s our guy in the Midlands. Always cheerful and positive. Great to see him in the studio."
"Lovely to see @DESCOLEMAN on #GMB. We are lucky to have his smiley weather forecasts all the time in Central," a second wrote, a as a third penned: "@DESCOLEMAN great to see our Des on #gmb this morning, but don't get leaving us in from @ITVCentral, you are a breath of fresh air I honestly dont know how you can be so chirpy so early."
A fourth wrote: "People think they're cool and then see @DESCOLEMAN doing the weather and realise what cool really is. #gmb."
"Nothing brightens my morning more than seeing you Des , myself and my daughter always look forward to seeing your smile and your cheeky wink," a fifth person shared online.
Laura is taking a break from the ITV show whilst she enjoys some much deserved time-off, whilst entertainment reporter Richard Arnold made his return to the show today and had to take part in his own Bushtucker trial.
