Glentoran and Warrenpoint Town have paid tribute to Gavin Peers after the experienced defender announced his retirement after 20 years in the game.
Peers, who is taking up a coaching role with the Republic of Ireland Under-15s, lifted the Irish Cup with the Glens in 2020 before concluding his career at Warrenpoint.
The 36-year-old also won the League of Ireland Premier Division, Setanta Cup, League Cup and three FAI Cups with Sligo Rovers after joining the club from Mansfield in 2006.

The centre-back also had spells with St Pat’s Athletic and Derry City before moving to Glentoran in 2019.
On social media the East Belfast club congratulated Peers on a “fantastic career” and “20 years as a professional”.
Warrenpoint tweeted: “We thank @Peersy23 for his time at the club and wish him all the best for the future.”
In a statement, Peers said: “All good things must come to an end. After 20 years of playing, I am hanging up the boots.
“A big thanks to all the managers and players I’ve played for and alongside.
“I’ve been lucky enough to have won every trophy in the League of Ireland and the Irish Cup in Northern Ireland.
“I have made friends for life along the way and had many great experiences. I couldn’t have done it all without the support of my wife and family and they deserve so much thanks.”
He continued: “It’s time to concentrate on coaching now and help the younger generation.
“One door closes and another door opens, I am really looking forward to the future with the FAI and working with the Irish Under 15 team.
“Trust me, I have the same hunger and desire for coaching as I did for playing. Thanks to everyone who encouraged me along the way. We will meet again.”
