Glengormley artist 'buzzing' after work recognised by The Apprentice star

A digital artist from Northern Ireland said he's "buzzing" after his art work was praised by one of the stars of hit BBC show The Apprentice.

Stephen McCurdy from Glengormley jokingly tweeted asking if Lord Sugar would ever invest in an artist - but was shocked when one of the show's key characters replied.

Claude Littner, who has been one of Lord Sugar's aides on the show since 2015, was "extremely complimentary" of Stephen's work and said there was no reason he couldn't make it on the show if he turned his art into "a viable business and apply."

As well as this, Mr Littner also tweeted him some hints and trips for some advice if he ever applies for the show.

After the online encounter - and the businessman's praise of one of Stephen's art pieces depicting London in winter - the artist sent him a copy to thank him for his advice, and soon received a private message.

Mr Littner said: "I am not an art connoisseur, far from it, but I really like your work. It is amazing. I wish you every success in your endeavors."

Speaking to Belfast Live, Stephen said the advice and encouragement has helped spur him on with his career.

He even said Mr Littner's top tips have even made him think about applying for The Apprentice in the future.

"He was very receptive and for me that was a bit of a boost in terms of my artwork," Stephen added.

"Who know who might see it in his house? He's getting it framed and is sending me a photo when it goes up on the wall.

"His advice has made me think a lot more clearly about where I want my future to be in the next year or two, I'm going to drive for my goal quicker than what I would have originally, had it not been for his interaction.

"I've been having meetings with the likes of Invest NI and Go For It about getting to the next stage which has been helpful.

"Chatting with him has certainly helped spur me on and think about things differently. It's just given me that wee bit of a boost."
