It won't be just the bells ringing in Glasgow for New Year this weekend, as a yellow weather warning has been issued by the Met Office for rain in the city.
Forecasters have set the warning for heavy rain, causing possible travel disruption and slippery surfaces for many in Glasgow on Friday, December 30. The warning is set in place from 3am on Friday until 6pm the same day.

Today's forecast - December 28
Mainly dry this morning with light winds. Thickening cloud with rain and hill snow extending northwards during the afternoon. Drier weather following during the evening. Maximum temperature 8 °C.
Tonight
A rather cloudy evening and night with showers or occasionally longer spells of rain. Turning drier and clearer in across South Ayrshire along with freshening westerly winds. Minimum temperature 5 °C.
Thursday's forecast - December 29
Cloudy with showers or some longer spells of rain, snow on hills in the north later. Turning drier and clearer from the west towards evening. Fresh to strong northwesterly winds. Maximum temperature 7 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday - December 30 to January 1 2023
Rain at times on Friday. Mainly dry over the weekend although a few showers possible later on Saturday.
