Glasgow's Hydro to use new security measures after fans left livid over queues

Glasgow's OVO Hydro will be using new security measures just a week after fans were left furious over "chaotic" long queues ...

The massive venue said they are 'excited' to be using their new security screening machines for three upcoming gigs - The Human League, Culture Club, and Slipknot.

The new machines, which are called Evolv Express, are contactless security systems that highlight threat items while ignoring harmless personal items.

A spokesperson for the Hydro said: "The SEC is always developing its operations in particular relating to customer experience, so we are excited to be using our new security screening machines at The OVO Hydro for The Human League, Culture Club & Slipknot. "Evolv Express is a contactless security screening solution that highlights threat items, while ignoring harmless personal items, as you walk through at a natural pace.

"How does it work?

  • Follow instructions from our team.
  • Keep all personal belongings with you during the screening process.
  • Simply walk through the screening system; there's no need to stop unless directed to by security.
  • Have your ticket ready for scanning.

"If you have a medical condition that may limit certain security procedures, or use a wearable or implanted medical device, please inform staff as you approach and they will provide an alternative screening method."

(Image: Newsquest) It comes just a week after raging music fans hit out after facing 'chaotic' and 'long queues' at the leisure facility.

Concert-goers expressed their frustration following the Fontaines DC show at the venue on Wednesday, December 4.

One angry fan said they were stuck in the queue for the show outside the venue at 9.10pm and due to this missed the band's first few songs.

Ahead of the show, the OVO Hydro said doors for the concert were set to open at 6.30pm and the event was planned to start at 7.50pm and finish at 10.30pm.

Meanwhile, another furious gig-goer expressed their anger by saying: "OVO Hydro - the security staff were utterly shambolic for tonight's Fontaines DC gig.

"Got there and waited an hour before getting in the door - hundreds missed the first few songs. Never experienced this before at the venue."

Following the concert, the venue said they always "do their best to ensure a quick entry" to events for guests.

However, at Fontaines DC gig they "had some challenges with queues".

The Hydro claimed part of it was due to a "large portion of the crowd" arriving later than anticipated.
