ESPN’s “College GameDay” analyst Rece Davis released his top 10 rankings ahead of Week 6 of the college season. He has a vote for the Associated Press and agreed with the media consensus for his top team this week. He ranks the Alabama Crimson Tide in the No. 1 spot. Davis had been lower than most on Alabama entering their Week 5
The Georgia Bulldogs drop to No. 5 in his rankings after dropping a 41-34 heavyweight bout against the Crimson Tide. The matchup is one of several high-profile matchups on Georgia’s schedule. They’ll be playing the No. 2 Texas Longhorns on Oct. 19, the No. 11 Ole Miss Rebels on Nov. 9, and the No. 4 Tennessee Volunteers on Nov. 16.
This upcoming week features some high profile matchups that can shift the rankings. The No. 10 Missouri Tigers will be heading against the Texas A&M Aggies, who seem to have recovered after an ugly loss to the No. 17 Notre Dame Fighting Irish in Week 1.
There’s also the No. 7 Miami Hurricanes heading on the road against the California Golden Bears, a game that Davis and the rest of the “College GameDay” staff will attend. The Hurricanes barely squeezed by the Virginia Tech Hokies in their first game of ACC play, so this matchup could be a coin flip.
Davis has Clemson ranked five spots higher than the AP poll. After the ugly Week 1 loss to Georgia, the No. 9 Tigers have scored over 40 points in every game since. They’ll be hitting the road to play the Florida State Seminoles on Saturday.
