Labour has achieved a landslide election which has seen the party make significant gains in London and across the UK.
Sir Keir Starmer’s party picked up 59 of the capital’s 75 seats with the Tories reduced from 20 seats to just 9.
A terrible night for the Tories saw the party wiped out from inner London with Greg Hands’ narrow defeated to Labour in Chelsea and Fulham the most notable loss.
However it wasn’t quite as bad as many polls had predicted for Rishi Sunak’s party - as it held on to a string of suburban seats, including ex-leader Sir Iain Duncan Smith’s Chingford and Woodford Green. The Liberal Democrats won six seats including its three big targets in the south-west: Wimbledon, Sutton and Cheam, and Carshalton and Wallington. One of the biggest results of the night was achieved by Jeremy Corbyn as the former Labour leader, standing as in independent, defeated his old party in Islington North.
The final declaration came in Hendon where Labour snatched the seat from the Tories by just 15 votes in the narrowest victory in the country.
