Gemma Atkinson sends message to 'amazing' Helen Skelton ahead of dancing without Gorka Marquez

Gemma Atkinson has sweetly shown her support for Helen Skelton as she prepares to hit the road in the Strictly Come Dancing Live tour. The Hits Radio host has become good friends with the Countryfile host after she was partnered with her fiancé Gorka Marquez on the latest series of the dance contest.

Helen, 39, and the Spanish dancer, 32, made it all the way to the final of the hit BBC One show last month but just missed out on the coveted Glitterball trophy to winners Hamza Yassin and Jowita Przystal.

Shortly after the series came to an end, it was announced that Helen would be joining Hamza and their fellow finalists Fleur East and Molly Rainford on the show's tour which kicks off this week. Tyler West, Will Mellor, and Ellie Simmonds will also joining them in gracing arenas across the country with Strictly's cast of professional dancers.

But things will be different for Helen as she's ditched Gorka and got a new partner. She will be dancing with Kai Widdrington instead of Gorka after he decided not to take part in the big tour. Last week when heading from Manchester to London for his flight to Miami, Gorka took part in an Instagram Q&A and he finally addressed why he wasn't taking part.

He said: "After the Strictly series I always like to take some down time to spend quality time with Gem and Mia. I am grateful for the work but I also think spending time with family is important. Time flies and we won't get those memories back." But he did have another message for fans.

Sharing a picture of himself and Helen, 39, following their reunion prior to his trip last week, the 32-year-old said: "But please do go and watch @strictlycomedancinglive it's gonna be amazing!!" He also added: "And make sure you VOTE for @helenskelton and @kaiwidd."

Gemma, 38, has now shown her support, sending Helen a gift as she prepares for the first show of the tour in Birmingham. Taking to her Instagram Story, mum-of-three Helen posted a picture of herself posing in a khaki green gym outfit. She thanked Gemma, appearing to confirm that it was from her range with Manchester fashion retailer, In The Style.

Gemma then reshared the post with her own 1.8m followers and penned: "Looks amazing Helen!" alongside a string of love heart eye emojis. "Go smash the tour and we'll see you in Manc."

It comes after Gemma's week got after to a bad start. Taking to her Instagram Story on Monday, Gemma could be seen in a black hoodie under a black puffer coat with a pair of black glasses pushed back on top of her head with her blonde locks scraped back out of her face. However, it wasn't clear where exactly she was until she started to explain.

"So you know when you have those days where everything goes wrong..." she started. "Woke up this morning [and had] no electricity, no hot water, nothing. The house was freezing. I brushed Mia off to pre-school and the electricians came out." She said the workers who came out were 'fabulous' and soon found a fault under the tarmac near the road. "It's only my house that's gone so they've put a generator outside my house and they're going to come back and dig up the road to fix it," she explained.

With her morning 'taken up' by the Pallava and thinking that was the end of it and things would be sorted, she decided to head over to her mum's for a shower before work. But that wasn't quite meant to be either as she ended up at the Mercedes garage with a nail in her tyre.

"I'm getting that sorted before I go to work," Gemma said. "I've just phoned by boss at work saying I might be a bit late but I'll keep you posted. Hung the phone up and my brace, I've got a fixed brace at the top of my teeth, has f***ing come off." She later added: "Surely nothing else can happen. Please. I know it's Blue Monday but frig me. Hey ho though."
