Gartcairn Women got their hands on the Championship South title on Saturday after a convincing 5-0 victory over Hutchinson Vale.
Robert McCallum’s side headed into the match knowing a point would likely be enough to fend off the challenge of Rossvale who were two points behind them, holding a huge goal difference advantage.
But it mattered not as they stormed to an easy victory in their final game of the season while Rossvale lost 3-2 to Morton.
The title was in the bag at half-time as Lauren Kerr, Mhairi Hawksworth, Cheryl Watt and Jane O’Toole goals handed them a commanding advantage.
O’Toole finished off the scoring after the interval as Gartcairn now look forward to SWPL 2 football next year.
McCallum’s side won 19 of their 22 matches over the season, racking up over 100 goals, and he said: “The team talk at half-time was about discipline.
“The players could enjoy themselves in the second half and it allowed me to get everybody minutes.
“It was slightly nervous, but we had the best defence and attack in the league, and you deserve the title with things like that.”
