Gabriel Martinelli shows Liverpool his worth as Martin Odegaard moment is compounded by Arsenal duo

Arsenal's momentum in recent weeks has been halted by Liverpool who dominated in their victory against the Gunners on Wednesday evening. Despite the strong resistance in the first half, Jurgen Klopp's men had too much firepower for Mikel Arteta's young side.

The north London side held strong in the first half but were ultimately undone in the second part of the match. Individual errors allowed Liverpool to dominate the second half, in a match where Arsenal started to look tired.

Arsenal are still in the top-four despite the defeat but will need to brush off any cobwebs from this match ahead of the match against Aston Villa on Saturday. Here is the good, the bad, and the ugly from Arsenal's defeat against Liverpool.

The Good - Martinelli is comfortable at the top

Gabriel Martinelli had been called up to the Brazilian international setup for the first time last week, and this match made it clear to see why. He showed the attributes of everything you would expect from a Brazilian star forward.

Trent Alexander-Arnold had a torrid time against the tricky winger. Martinelli got the best of him anytime they went into a one-on-one duel.

Klopp was full of praise for the Arsenal player in the last meeting between the sides, and I’m sure he has climbed even higher in his estimations. All that was missing from his performance was a goal to top it off.

Liverpool have been previously linked to signing him in the future, and it is clear to see why after the excellent display he had shown. Martinelli will certainly be a top player and this match proved that he will be able to fulfill his potential in an Arsenal shirt.

The Bad – Ramsdale gives ammo to his critics

Aaron Ramsdale has not really put a foot wrong since making the £30m to the Gunners in the summer but this changed against Liverpool. His error for the first Liverpool proved to be extremely costly.

His mistake came just minutes after Alisson Becker had made a crucial save from Martin Odegaard to keep Liverpool level on the scoreline. These types of differences are the fine margins that separate a win from a defeat.

Ramsdale had been praised for his weekend performance against Leicester after his excellent performance, and Brendan Rodgers had tipped that off with his reaction, but the negative headlines will now follow. However, he is young and he will learn from these mistakes.

The Ugly - Cedric exposed twice after impressive run

Takehiro Tomiyasu's absence against Liverpool was dearly missed. Cedric Soares struggled against Liverpool's ferocious attack which was to be expected.

The Portuguese international had a bad part to play for both of Liverpool's first two goals. He was caught out of position and the Reds were able to exploit the left-hand side.

Tomiyasu is best known for his defensive capabilities and he would've been extremely useful in this match. The sooner the Japanese is available, the better. Arsenal will need to him in the final stretch in the race for Champions League football, which Cedric's performance against Liverpool proved.
