Fulham push for £25m-rated midfielder Andre as interest in Arsenal star Emile Smith Rowe remains

Fulham are pushing to sign midfielder Andre from Brazilian side Fluminense as a replacement for Joao Palhinha.

The Cottagers received a club-record fee of up to £47.5million including add-ons for Palhinha, who left for Bayern Munich this month after almost joining the German club last summer and again in January.

Brazilian international Andre is now back on Fulham’s radar, having agreed personal terms with the London club in January when it looked like Palhinha would leave.

Fulham hope to strike a deal with Andre, who Fluminense value at around £25m.

Andre, 23, was first of interest to Fulham last August, and the club were in regular dialogue with his representatives throughout last season.

Fulham also see Manchester United’s Scott McTominay as an option if affordable.

They are expected to return with a fresh bid for Emile Smith Rowe, who Arsenal are willing to sell. A first bid in the region of £25m was rejected over the weekend.

The Cottagers also intend to strengthen at centre-back, where manager Marco Silva wants at least two new signings after losing Tosin Adarabioyo to Chelsea as a free agent. There is interest in Luton’s Teden Mengi, an England Under-21 international.

Tyrese Francois is set for a medical at Wigan Athletic, having agreed a two-year deal after leaving Fulham as a free agent this month.

The Australian midfielder, 24, made 11 first-team appearances for Fulham between 2019 and 2024, spending the second half of last season on loan with Vejle Boldklub in the Danish Superliga.

Fulham, Liverpool and Manchester City are the only Premier League clubs yet to have made a first-team signing this summer.
