Another year, another Playstation State of Play showcase to anticipate. We already know Grand Theft Auto 6's November launch has been set in stone, and last month's Xbox Developer Direct revealed that a handful of cross-platform new games – like Playground's Fable game – are coming to Sony's flagship console. But many upcoming PS5 games for 2026 still lack a release date, and that's something the 60-minute State of Play on February 12 should seek to remedy.
However, release dates aren't all I think we'll be treated to. From upcoming Marvel games to a remake of the best Tomb Raider game of all time, here's a handy predictions list if you'd like to join me in pondering what announcements the PlayStation publisher might have in store for us during the event.
5. Marvel's Wolverine release date confirmation

Logan is the name on everybody's lips right now, and for good reason. Marvel's Wolverine is the next big action game coming from Spider-Man developer Insomniac, and it's slated to launch sometime this Fall. But we haven't really seen very much of it aside from stills and a few minutes of super gory gameplay revealed at the tail end of 2025. So many questions still hang over Wolvie's big special. What's its exact release date? What other famous X-Men villains can we hope to see, aside from the handful glimpsed in the trailer? Most importantly, asks our Games Editor, will he be shirtless?
4. New gameplay for Saros

Fans of Housemarque's Returnal are keen to clap eyes on Saros, the bullet hell roguelike's upcoming spiritual sequel, as we look ahead to its April release date. We actually have quite a bit of intel on the gorgeous new solo experience following a Sony State of Play showcase in September 2025. But with the release date drawing ever closer, now would be the perfect time for Housemarque to remind fans of its existence following a very busy first two months of the year.
3. Platforms and release date reveal for Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra

It might be greedy to hope for two Marvel games at Sony State of Play this February, but Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra and Marvel's Wolverine would go hand-in-hand. Both games are 2026 releases without firm launch dates, and despite rumors alleging an "early 2026" release for the former, we know even less about Skydance's new game than Insomniac's. EA's canceled Black Panther game was a bitter pill to swallow for many of us, so now is Sony's chance to remind Marvel fans that the PS5 is where we can find solace.
2. New 007 First Light gameplay following delay

We haven't heard much on 007 First Light since developer IO Interactive announced a two-month delay in December. That makes State of Play the perfect opportunity for a final temperature check! Our latest glimpse of First Light gave us a taste of its secret agent stealth gameplay, but we haven't seen much of the more bombastic moves the British super-spy is known for. It's a core component of the Bond fantasy, and IO would do well to give us another reminder of just how "not-Hitman" the game is as we await its May launch.
1. Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis release date reveal

One of the most exciting games revealed at The Game Awards 2025, Flying Wild Hog's Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is a modern reimagining of the franchise's first entry. It's also poised for an unknown 2026 release date, and I'm dying to know when to mark my calendar. The studio behind Evil West has yet to let me down, and with Legacy of Atlantis set to whet our appetite for the next huge instalment slated for 2027 – aka Tomb Raider: Catalyst – it would be awesome to see more than a cinematic trailer at this stage.
2026's first Playstation State of Play kicks off on Thursday 12 February at 2pm PT / 5pm ET / 10pm GMT. Check out the best PS5 games to distract you in the meantime!
