A French tourist slipped and fell to his death while taking photographs at a waterfall on Koh Samui.
Police said he fell while visiting the Na Muang 2 waterfall around 1pm.
He was identified only as Alexis, 22, and was travelling with his girlfriend. He reportedly climbed onto a rock to take pictures with his partner, took a step back, lost his footing and plunged down the side of the waterfall.
Local officials, rescue volunteers and police recovered his body, an operation that took about three hours due to the difficult terrain. The man's body was found on the second tier of the waterfall.
Police said the couple had booked into a hotel at Bo Phut and were sightseeing. His girlfriend told police they had just finished taking photos together when Alexis slipped and fell.
