Manchester United will be looking to put Friday evening's disappointing FA Cup exit to Middlesbrough behind them when they face Burnley at Turf Moor in the Premier League on Tuesday evening.
United, who are unbeaten in their last six visits to Turf Moor without conceding a single goal, will make the short trip to Lancashire looking to record a third successive league triumph, following back-to-back wins over both Brentford and West Ham United prior to the winter break.
After a stuttering start to 2022, being beaten 1-0 by Wolves and blowing a two-goal lead against Aston Villa, the wins over both Brentford and the Hammers have shown that a recovery is beginning to take place at Old Trafford.
United will travel to Turf Moor occupying the final Champions League spot, meaning they will now be tasked with trying to stay there, opposed to being in pursuit.
With that in mind, United can ill-afford any mishaps over the coming weeks, starting against the Clarets. In a bid to avoid any further disappointments, the players have been putting the hard yards in on the training ground following Friday's shock FA Cup defeat.
With that in mind, MEN Sport has picked out four things we spotted from Monday's training session at Carrington.
Lindelof features
After missing Friday evening's defeat to Middlesbrough through illness, centre-back Victor Lindelof has trained ahead of the clash with Sean Dyche's side, offering hope that he could be included in the squad.
The Swede, who also played no part in the win over west Ham following a break-in at his home whilst United were facing Brentford, is, however, unlikely to force his way into the starting line-up even if he is declared fit enough to be involved.
Nevertheless, his presence within the squad would offer Rangnick a huge boost, certainly in terms of having strength in depth available to him.
Sporting a woolly hat, he was pictured looking to move the ball away from team-mate Jadon Sancho.
Goalkeepers' union has the giggles
Although Friday's cup exit will have dampened the mood within the dressing room in the immediate aftermath of the contest, United's players do not appear to be letting it weight on their minds ahead of resuming their Premier League campaign.
That is because there appeared to be plenty of high spirits flowing through the camp on Monday, particularly amongst the goalkeepers.
David de Gea, who is expected to return between the sticks at Turf Moor, was spotted raising his arms aloft and laughing, as was fellow United shot-stopper Lee Grant, who was pictured smiling, laughing and pointing.
It is possible that they had just participated in a training ground game and De Gea had come out on top.
Mejbri rubs shoulders with United's senior stars
Youngster Hannibal Mejbri has returned to Old Trafford following Tunisia's run to the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations and, as expected, is getting the chance to train with the first-team.
Rangnick is understood to be well aware of the midfielder's talents and he is expected to train with the senior squad frequently between now and the end of the campaign.
As recently reported by the Manchester Evening News, the youngster was offered the chance to take a holiday between the Arab Cup and the AFCON, but he chose to return to Carrington in the hope of impressing Rangnick.
The French-born midfielder is yet to play under Rangnick but he will be hoping his invitation to train with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Marcus Rashford will change that. He was pictured listening to instructions being dished out by Rangnick ahead of the trip to Burnley.
A happy camp
As outlined above in relation to the goalkeeping department, smiles did not appear to be in short supply at Carrington on Monday, suggesting that United's players are in good spirits ahead of the short trip to Turf Moor.
The likes of Phil Jones, Bruno Fernandes, Edinson Cavani and Sancho were all pictured donning huge smiles on their faces.
Considering United were knocked out of the FA Cup as a result of one of the biggest shocks of the round, Rangnick could have faced a challenge in picking them up off the floor ahead of taking to the pitch again so soon.
However, judging by their characteristics he is not going to have such a concern. They appeared to be buoyant and confident, meaning the German will be expecting his players to deliver the goods and get back on track against the Premier League's bottom club.
