Four boats have been destroyed on the Noosa River in a fierce fire that also damaged a popular party vessel.
Emergency crews arrived at Gympie Terrace, at Noosaville, at about 1:30am today to find a pontoon boat and three dinghies ablaze.
The vessels had been tied to a jetty but slipped from their moorings when the flames burnt through the ropes.
It made it difficult for firefighters to reach the boats from the shore.
Noosa Fire Station officer John Lewis said a commercial fisher helped crews reach one of the burning boats, which nearly collided with a yacht.
"[It was] very fortuitous that they were there at the time," Mr Lewis said.
"They took their vessel out with firefighters and tethered the boat that was alight and took it back to the shore and then extinguished it."
Party boat damaged
Popular party boat the M-V Catalina also sustained damage to its hull.
It is the largest fully licensed vessel on the Noosa River, with space for 160 passengers.
A plastic jetty was also destroyed.
Mr Lewis said investigators would examine whether an electrical fault was to blame, but it was too early to confirm.
He said it was lucky no one was injured.
"It was a good effort from all of the agencies, not only from the fire service, but the police were in attendance and also the Queensland Ambulance Service," Mr Lewis said.
Pelican Boat Hire has confirmed it owns the four destroyed vessels.
In a post on its Facebook page, the business praised its employees.
"Our team are amazing and had cleared the mess and had us open for business as usual (with a slightly smaller fleet!) by 8:00am," the post read.
"We are open as usual and still smiling."
