Michael Paton says his aim is to use his experience to help emerging Albion Rovers players coming through the ranks.
The 33-year-old has agreed to join Brian Reid's men for the 2022/23 League Two season after time at Highland League outfit Brechin City.
He made 25 appearances at Glebe Park last term, a club where he also held the player-manager role for a period.
Paton - who started his career at Aberdeen - will be one of the more senior pros in the Cliftonhill manager's young squad overall.
A remit has been put to him that he'll hand some of those raw stars a helping hand when they need it, and the attacking midfielder is more than happy to lend it.
He told club media: "Brian Reid got in touch with me just to ask what my plans were. He then laid out his ambitions here for the season. It grew arms and legs from our first phone call.
"Once I got back from my holiday, I came here and signed. That was that, really. I am now looking forward to getting started.
"Anywhere I have been, I have wanted to help the younger lads progress. It's quite a young squad here.
"If I can help relay the manager's message onto the younger players on the park, I will."
