Arsenal defender Nuno Tavares wants to stay at the club this summer, despite a potential flurry of exits over the coming weeks, according to his agent. The Portuguese left-back is set to return to the Gunners in the near future for pre-season, having spent the previous campaign on loan at Marseille.
That move came after a difficult first season with the Gunners in 2021/22, having made the £7million switch from Benfica in the summer. Having been viewed as a promising backup to Kieran Tierney, the youngster may have received more game time than bargained for as his Scottish counterpart picked up several injuries.
While there were moments where he would shine, such as a strike against Manchester United, there were plenty to forget such as his substitution in a defeat to Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup that resulted in a reaction on the bench when he came off. A loan to Marseille last season followed, where he made 39 appearances across all competitions.
During the campaign, reports from L'Equipe claimed that Mikel Arteta and his Arsenal staff were "annoyed" with the behaviour of the 23-year-old and led to his exit on loan. It remains to be seen what will happen to Tavares when it comes to his future, but for now there will likely be a slight pause.
That's because the left-back has only just finished his own season, having played for the Portuguese under 21s side in the European Championships. Following a break, a return to pre-season is on the cards, but whether he will stay at Arsenal is up for debate, with plenty of teams interested in a move.

But, according to his agent, Cesar Bonaventura, the youngster wants a stay at the Emirates Stadium this season, telling Turkish journalist Tibet Tore: "Nuno is still under contract at Arsenal. He wants to stay in the team but we'll see what happens in the future."
There's still plenty to be decided at Arsenal in the coming weeks ahead, with plenty of players linked with a potential exit, with the future of Tavares just one of the names that could make a switch.
