Floyd Mayweather called out by MMA star for boxing fight on KSI's promotion

Ex-Bellator champion AJ McKee has called out Floyd Mayweather to a fight on KSI's Misfits Boxing series.

Boxing legend Mayweather retired in 2017 from professional boxing after defeating UFC star Conor McGregor in a crossover encounter to move to 50 professional victories. However he has since been fighting in exhibition fights sharing the ring with a whole host of YouTube stars including Deji and Logan Paul.

'Money' has been linked with further contests against the likes of Manny Pacquiao and McGregor, which also included a tag-team fight on KSI's promotional label Misfits Boxing. And former Bellator king McKee believes he would be a perfect fit for The Nightmare's label, having already targeted a future in the boxing ring.

"I know they got that 170 tournament jumping off. I mean, that's two weight classes above but, who knows?," McKee told Jamal Niaz when assessing a potential future in the boxing ring. "Maybe I'll get my feet wet in there and tussle with these big boys a little bit. Floyd, man! I want Floyd. Yeah, that's the GOAT bro.

"It's because he's a GOAT, I'm a GOAT. To share that moment, one GOAT to another GOAT, there's no one like it, you know? Mixed martial arts, there's not many people you can share that great moment with. Outside of that, I don't care, I'll fight anybody. Maybe I'll sit down and talk with Mams [Taylor].

"It's pure entertainment man, the name Misfits is perfect. It works for everybody and everybody is here helping each other. I feel boxing was taking a dive, but I feel like this brings a new entertainment. I feel I am different and that is what makes all of us special, I think I am a Misfits person myself."

The 22-year-old has picked up two consecutive wins on both Rizin and Bellator since his rematch loss to Patricio Friere, which is the only defeat of his career in MMA. Many fighters have taken the step across to the boxing ring, with ex-UFC star Nate Diaz the latest to make the switch when he is set to fight Jake Paul.

Mayweather is already scheduled to take a new bout in the ring against John Gotti III in the US, and is likely to fight on more occasions before the end of the year. He has hinted this will be part of a global tour which will continue his plan, which could see him land in more countries.

He tweeted: "This is what my 2023 looks like so far. 5 exhibitions in 5 countries in 9 months and if any of these exhibitions don’t happen, I still get paid. I’m the most active hustler in boxing, my money is guaranteed."
