Florida Man Convicted Of Murder Lunges At Victim's Family

Nevada judge attacked by defendant during sentencing in Vegas courtroom

A Florida man, Adrian Cosby, was convicted of murdering 18-year-old high school senior Andrea Camps-Lacayo in April 2020 over a dispute involving Yeezy sneakers. The tragic incident occurred when Camps-Lacayo and her boyfriend were attempting to sell three pairs of Adidas Yeezy shoes worth $935.

During Cosby's sentencing, Camps-Lacayo's father delivered a powerful statement, calling Cosby 'the epitome of evil and darkness.' This statement triggered Cosby, who responded with profanity and attempted to lunge at the family member, resulting in a chaotic scene in the courtroom that required multiple officers to restrain him.

The fatal shooting took place when Camps-Lacayo and her boyfriend met with George Walton to sell the sneakers. Cosby intervened during the transaction and opened fire, fatally striking Camps-Lacayo and injuring her boyfriend. Camps-Lacayo succumbed to her injuries at a nearby hospital.

A jury found Cosby guilty of felony murder, attempted murder, and attempted robbery. He was sentenced to two life terms plus an additional 25-year sentence. Walton, who was also involved in the crime, received a life sentence earlier this year for his role in the murder.

Andrea Camps-Lacayo, described as the captain of her high school dance team, is survived by her parents, brother, and sister. Her untimely death has left a lasting impact on her loved ones and the community.
