Five Sisters Zoo share update pictures of penguin enclosure and tease new arrivals

Five Sisters Zoo have teased an update with a fresh look at the construction of their new penguin enclosure.

However the completion of the new penguin project is delayed due to a rise in costs associated with the build and a fall in visitor numbers from previous years.

Those at Five Sisters Zoo have called on their supporters to help with the ‘drastic increase in operating costs’ by offering sales of garden plants and composts as well as their gardening services.

Nonetheless the business have shared how the new home for their penguins will look whilst also teasing the prospect of new arrivals in the near future.

The enclosure looks to be coming together nicely with a centrepiece rock feature sure to be a hit with their black and white waddlers.

In a post on their Facebook, they shared: “Work is coming along steadily with our new penguin enclosure, however it is turning into a very expensive project.

“Our visitor numbers are well down on previous years. We think this is because of the current cost of living crisis, people are spending less and we understand that visiting a zoo is not high on many people's priorities.

“Combined with the drastic increase in operating costs, this is currently having a very negative effect.

“Although we are not asking for donations, there are other ways you can help us with building the enclosure.

“We are offering sales of garden plants and composts which we have here at the zoo and we also offer garden services such as turfing, planting, maintenance, fencing/decking and fence/shed painting, all of which is carried out by our zoo maintenance staff.

“For any enquiries please email brianc@fivesisterszoo.co.uk.

“Hopefully we will have an update soon regarding the individual penguins that we hope will arrive later this summer all going well.”
